Alpine Academy Preschool is dedicated to providing each child with interesting, challenging and age appropriate activities that engage the imagination and enhance cognitive skills. We strive to equip your child with those skills necessary (emotionally, socially, and academically) to be ready to enter Kindergarten. This is achieved through play such as music and rhythm, language, fine and gross motor activities, dramatic play, cooking, science, creative media and outside experiences throughout the community at large.

We also help to enhance and promote each child’s sense of positive self image, individuality and creativity. Every child is encouraged to participate in all types of play. Through play and hands on activities, children develop the skills needed to understand and appreciate the world around them and the people in it. One of our goals is to connect families with their community and available resources.

Alpine Academy Preschool welcomes all children regardless of race, color. creed, ethnic or national origin or religious belief. We present our programs with multi cultural interests in mind and we explore these unique customs and beliefs as part of our regular curriculum.

Our staff are selected not only on the basis of educational qualifications and experience but also on the basis of attitude. Teachers are chosen who exhibit real dedication to teaching and a genuine concern for children. All teachers are certified for Early Childhood Education or have earned a degree in Elementary Education.

Games, manipulatives, and other activities are offered to encourage the love of math concepts in an exciting and challenging format.

Through cooking, we learn math principles, measurement, and group participation. This gives youngsters authentic learning experiences as well as the pride of preparing their own food.

Because early literacy is so pivotal to educational success, we feature many wonderful children’s literature activities. These include daily access to classroom books, story time, monthly field trips to the library, as well as participation in Book It!, Weekly Reader, and Scholastic programs.

Study of our environment, gardening and plant growth, rocks and crystals, kitchen chemistry, the way our bodies work, space, dinosaurs, oceans and weather and more.

Children are given multiple opportunities to grow various types of plants. Some examples are sunflowers, bulbs, beans, and button mushrooms.

Visitors & Field Trips

Students have monthly opportunities to enjoy the many resources in our community through visitors and field trips such as the Museum of Northern Arizona and Lowell Observatory.

Music & Movement

Students experience music through the use of instruments, song and dance. We enjoy and invite all types of music and cultural representations. We also enjoy Kindermusic on a monthly basis.

Children are invited daily to experiment in different types of mediums. Process oriented mediums such as clay, shaving cream, sand and water, allow children to enjoy a creative process. Painting sculpting, mixed medium and more are offered throughout the year.
